Jorat practically threw Oliver from his med bay. It had been two weeks and the man had a horrible habbit of reading aloud when bored; which having nothing else to do was all the time. Closing the door behind Oliver Jorat let out a deep sigh. He liked the guy; but, being a solitary person, spending too much time with anyone tended to grate on his nerves. Besides now that he had the guy back on his foot, he could have the time to concentrate on figuring out what happened two weeks ago when he almost lost his friend and patient. That fact was bad enough, but then the captain had spent the better part of the day repremanding him over the incident.

Oliver, finally getting used to his crutches and growing back some chest hair, decided to go about and see the ship he hadn't seen in two weeks. It felt good to be able to fully inhale after such a long time of short shallow breaths. He had very fuzzy memories of someone who had stopped his heart, despite Jorat and practically everyone else trying to get him to remember. He decided to just shrug it off and see if it came naturally to him.

He went to the kitchen and saw that the burn marks had all been painted over and you could barely tell that there anything bad had ever happened in here. He just wished he could clean his head as simply as the wall had been. He went through the kitchen running his hand across the shelves, he opened some and was glad to see that they were fully stocked up. Tonight he would make one of the best meals anyone aboard this ship had ever tasted. They deserved it after two weeks of ration packs, he wouldn't wish his worst enemies to eat that.

After hours of working it was finally finished. A lot of that time was wasted just getting around in his new crutches, they made things rather difficult. It was about time to start eating so he figured to notify everyone that it was time for dinner.

Feryx wandered into the kitchen being beckoned by the intoxicating aroma of real food. "Good to see you earning your pay again." Looking around cautiously, "Your not playing with the nitro-fruit again I trust." Wanting to help the chef, but knowing he shouldn't 'interfere' with a crewman's job he pulled a small cart from the wall and slid it across the floor toward Oliver, "Here this way you cna get the food to the table instead of having us eat it from the floor." Feryx turned away with a slight chuckle, "I gather everyone for you since it would be cold by the time you managed it."

Jorat was scribbling some notes when the captain called him out for the evening meal. Looking up out the door of the medical bay, he shook his head declining the offer. "Oliver put up with me for long enough, Let the crew bother him tonight." after a moments pause he was forced to add, "Not hungry, anyway now I can relax and catch up on my dreaming. Don't let Oliver undo my patch job." With that Jorat rose to find his own quarters leaving the captain to join the others for dinner.

Vira was wasting time in her station when Feryx came around to tell her that some real food was being served. She was unsure whether or not to go, but she knew that Oliver had no memory of what had happened so she decided it would be safe, besides she was really hungry. By the time she got there thought Oliver was already bringing out the food.

When he heard that everyone was there he decided that it would be a good time to show off his masterpiece. He pushed out the cart on it with most of the food on it but, of course, he would bring out the main attraction himself, crutches or not. It was under the cart already so all he had to do was reach under there and pull it out. When he showed it to everyone he heard "oh" and "ah" as people admired the dish that had taking him so long to make. Then Vira walked in. When he saw her his eyes glazed over and his mind was transported to that night she nearely killed him. The plate fell from his hands and in a fit of panic turned and tried to run, landing on his bad knee. He somehow managed to get into the kitchen and into one of the lower cabinets that had been empty. His fur was down with sweat, he held his legs to his chest and rocked. He was to afraid of that demon to ever come out again. He might of been in intense pain from his almost re-broken knee, but the fear was more. He heard a comotion outside but he didn't care, he felt safe inside here.

(hurray for panic attacks, or the other thing, boo ya thats it)

With a bit of a confused look on his face, Captain Feryx turns his head back and forth from looking at Vira and where Oliver was standing. Giving his head a quick shake to collect his thoughts he turns to look at Vira and intentionally ask the most idiotic question he can think of, "Let me guess, former lovers who married too soon only to discover that your passion was purely physical; and when that died shortly after the honymoon, there was a horrible and unfriendly divorce." After a moment to see the look on her face, "Go fetch Jorat, he is either in the Medical bay or his Quarters." Hoping that she had spent some time in the last couple weeks to remember where how to get to either location, or at least the medical bay since there was a not on the door identifying where Jorat's room was for emergency's. Without looking to see if Vira complied he went into the kitchen in time to see a cubbard door pulled closed from within. "Jorat just let you out and now you go and cram yourself into a small box bolted into the wall and floor. I hope that you didn't like that leg because if Jorat sees you in there he's likely to cut it off to save himself the trouble of fixing it again."

Oliver couldn't respond, all he could do was breath, breath and try to go away from here like he used to when his parents fought. He went into one of his books, his body went limp and he could relax. If you were to see him you would think him asleep.

Vira knew what this was about, she had regretted that decision she made the moment the alarms went off when his heart had stopped. She decided to go to the med bay first since she knew where that was, otherwise it would take a while to find his room. Luckily he was there, at his desk. "hey, Oliver just kinda freaked out and ran into the kitchen" she said sheepishly, knowing fully well it was her fault. She quickly left before he could ask why. she decieded it best to go to her room and not wreck Oliver up anymore

Jorat was just standing up to leave when Vira stuck her head in; saying something about Oliver going crazy, again. Grabing his bag he ran out after her and just catching her before she could escape down the hall, "Okay, tell me everything that happened, how it happened." taking her by the arm to escort her back the the dining room.

Feryx stood in the kitchen watching the cabinet, waiting for Oliver to come out. When he noticed that the door was slightly pushed open. Not wanting to startle the chef anymore he faught the urge to open it further and drag Oliver out to the center of the floor.

Vira was caught by the arm and was being led to the dining room, basically the one place she didn't want to be. While walking she talked to Jorat. "Well, i arived a little late, but when i got there he was serving the food then just turned around and ran into the kitchen" she said sheepishly, staring at her feet.

Jorat looked quizically at Vira, he would have cocked an eyebrow at her but not having any made that rather difficult. Ignoring that thought for the moment Jorat continued to walk her to the kitchen, "That would be a weird reaction to your entry, even for him. . . Did you leave out any other detail that could account for Oliver to have reacted in that manner?" When she seemed to have no interest in answering he prompted further, "Could he have gotten burned on the food or plate? Did he comment on forgetting anything in the kitchen? Or needeing to turn the oven off?" Jorat was starting to think that maybe Oliver needed a full psychological review, and soon. "Did anyone there make a derogotive comment about the look or aroma of the food?"

Vira rubbed the back of her neck and looked away, "like i said i arrived late so i wouldn't know, you would have to ask someone who was there, i think Feryx is in the kitchen right now." She turned around and started to walk towards her room.

Being preoccupied Jorat let her go but turned back towards her calling, "I have an opening in the morning for you check up; and before you try to argue all new crew are required to have one. Feryx made the rule and I can agree with it." Then he hurried on towards the kitchen.

Feryx turns to see Jorat enter the kitchen, "He's hiding in the cabinet there," pointing towards the cabinet next to the sink. Wanting to leave so the medic can do his job undisturbed, but knowing that he should stay nearby incase Oliver proves hostile the captain steps to the side and gives Jorat the room he needs.

Jorat goes over and slowly opens the cabinet door and speaking in a soft, soothing voice, "Oliver, are you okay? I am Jorat, remember me? the ship-board medic. I want to help you, can you come out of there for me?"

Vira moaned when she heard about the check up in the morning. For one, she was really afraid of needles and two she would have to get up early. Well at least it was something to do, she thought. When she had fixed the engine there was nothing left to do except run tests, and she had always found those rather boring. She decided to actually see how they were doing with Oliver in the kitchen, she knew she shouldn't, but her curiosity got the better of her.

Oliver flinched back from the light and his dream when the cabinet opened. He covered his eyes and ears against any thing that could bombard his mind further. When he heard the muffled, familiar voice through his covered ears he opened his fingers a fraction to look out at Jorat. He began to take his hands away, but then he saw Vira's face peeking around the door. He began wimpering and put his arms over his face. He pressed himself against the back wall of the cabinet.

Vira quickly pulled her head out of sight and walk briskly back to her room. Along the way telling herself that she should think things through before doing something stupid like she usually did.

(also, leaving tomorrow and getting back thursday, August 5th, but i might have internet there. If i do I'll be on only a little though.)

Jorat checked how Oliver was situated in the cabinet and despite having wrenched his leg again he would be fine spending the night in the cabinet. Jorat couldn't reach anyplace decent to administer anesthetic so decide that Oliver needed to learn his lesson sometime, "If you continue damaging you body before it can heal, you only make my job harder." Grabbing Oliver's leg the medic pulls hard to, again, reset the knee. "If you can't make it work with a brassce, I will put you leg in a cassst."

Oliver just continued to whimper in the cabnit, covering his face. The words seemed alien in his ears as the snake spoke to him. They left him, letting him spend the night in the cabinet. During the night he dreamed of the scene of when Vira had almost killed him. Each time it became more and more demonic and frightening, he continuously woke up, over and over again, until he was exhausted. He finally passed out.

The automated lights buzzed on early in the morning and Oliver climbed out. He couldn't remember what had happened last night, why he had slept in a cabinet or why his legs was out of it's brace. He couldn't stand, because of the pain, but he spied a cart with wheels on it, lifted himself aboard, and push his way out of the doorway with his good leg. He went over to Jorat's room, where he found him sleeping. He knocked on the door and said, "hey, uh, sorry to wake you up, but i was just wondering, what happened last night?"

"What happened? I don't know. The captain called for me and when I arrived you were tucked into the cubbard." Jorat turns his head to look out at Oliver, "Before that you would have to inquire with the captain. Now if you will halt you masssochissstic nature, I can try to put you together one final time." Jorat drags himself out of bed and pulls a shirt on. Having taken habbit of sleeping with his pants on in case of emergencies. Looking at Oliver again he grabs his med kit and starts heading to the med bay not checking if Oliver follows.
